Your first property investment and the most important lessons you learnt
Way back in 1997 the very first property I sold with Seeff was in Mimosa Road, Northcliff and was, at the time, considered a huge price of R550,000. The house was in a prime position and set on 1983 square meter stand with three reception rooms and four bedrooms. The average prices for this type of house was between R500,000 and R650,000. Northcliff in those days was extremely popular for its tree-lined streets and established properties and being within easy commuting to the City. I was so excited when the sale went through. Today the house would sell for approximately R3.75M!
Your most significant property deal and what insights can you share
The most significant property deal my partner Norah and I have concluded was a house at 176 Senior Drive, Northcliff X2 in July 2013. It had been on the market for approximately four years and was offered originally in the R8 millions. It was sold at R7.5M and really was a beautiful classic Northcliff home set on the northern slope with tennis court, pool and five bedrooms with an English rose garden complete with its own maze! I suppose the moral of the story is never to give up, keep positive and keep the passion alive! To continue reading click here…
